Welcome to Quick Stays & Getaways
My first venture into travel blogging was in 2013. I was living in London for the semester, exploring a new country or corner of the city every weekend. The blog was designed to keep my parents posted on my adventures abroad, but I fell in love. I grappled with the idea of continuing after I landed stateside again, but the truth is, I felt like a fraud. How could I recommend the best places to go if I hadn’t been to all the places.
Fast forward 10 years.
When I started my most recent 9-5 (yes, I’m a travel blogger with a desk job) a big theme of my training was imposter syndrome – the idea that we often doubt our skills or accomplishments due to an internalized fear of being exposed as a fraud. Simply put, everyone feels like they are faking it at some point.
Over the past 10 years, I may not have been blogging, but I’ve lived in two amazing cities, started a career, and despite the desk job and limited vacation days (gasp!), I haven’t stopped traveling since catching the travel bug a decade ago.
Every corner of the internet is full of inspirational stories of people packing up their desk jobs to become nomads and see the world. But what about those like us who work 9-5s? Those of us who cash in vacation days for a few days of adventure or relaxation and need to maximize the time we have?
If you’re a 9-5er, weekend wanderer, automatic replier, then this is the blog for you. I’m here to help you maximize PTO and make the most of quick getaways and week-long stays. So let me do the heavy lifting for you, so all you have to do is turn that out-of-office on, and come along for the ride.
